Had a good play around with mine and in contrast to everyone else on here I am not really getting on that well with it :(

The effects are stellar but deep down I think I just desire simplicity.

The last multi-fx unit I owed had 4 knobs and was ridiculously simple to dial in one effect at a time.

It's also becoming apparent that I don't really have a use for many of the effects the pedal offers.

Ill give it another shot today but it look like I may be returning it.

@d8m it can be overwhelming. So I suggest you make a patch into an empty one. Then add one effect to it. Something simple like delay, tremolo or chorus. Then tweak that until you're satisfied. When you're done with that, add another. And do the same. You'll probably churn out one good patch a day if you really commit to it.

If you play with preset patches, it will be definitely be overwhelming. It's just too many things going on at the same time.

If you want to achieve a certain sound, and know what settings and parameters you require, only then should u try to mess with multiple effects at the same time.

    Thanks for the advice :)

I think my issue is I'm not really a patch user(banking multiple effects into patches)

Even on my old  magicstomp I only ever used one effect at a time.

Basically I never use multi effects to their full potential as my playing is so basic and stripped down I have no need for it.

    Should've just stuck to stompboxes!

    :))

spent 90 mins with mine last night and loving it.. don't find it complicated at all, thought it was quite simple actually. Dialled in a nice Marshall crunch patch which sounds great through headphones. My primary reason for getting it was simple solution to use in the loop of the Pink Taco for practices so I've got to try that yet, but I expect it to work perfectly for what I need( Reverb, Delay and using the EQ as a solo boost)

Anyone use the G3 through a PA? just wondered what it  sounded like? is it useable? might make a good solution for a backup to my BE100

    I have a GT 6 Brilliant Pedal,also up in the classfieds  ;)
I used to have one - pretty decent for effects but dreadful sterile amp modelling, hence I sold it 3 weeks after I bought it.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

@d8m - I'm new to the G3 as well but have an MS50 and a CDR70 which I use on my board for single effects. Each patch gives me up to 6 effects. I don't use an amp model in any of the slots as it is running into my amp so I choose, say a chorus, set it as I would if it was a traditional pedal and save it. Then I'd do the same for say,a phaser, same again for a delay etc. That way, each patch becomes a virtual pedalboard, with no amp modelling. The option is always there if you need it though.

    MS-70 looks pretty good!

If only I'd seen that one first I could have saved myself some time :)

I have no need for dirts As I have pedals for those.

What I'm after is a pedal that covers all the delays etc. that I rarely use so don want to splash out on individual boxes for.

The effects list for the MS-70 looks pretty decent!

They are but it is harder to turn on or off more than one effect at a time as it only has the one display and footswitch compared to the G3. No amp modelling either but it does have effects that the others don't. Cracking bit of kit.

The size of and exclusive effects on the MS70CDR are the selling points, but they're very specialised effects which you may not need, e.g. do you need a shimmer verb, echoplex delay, particle reverb? I never use the drives on the G3 too, but they're there in case I wonder what a fuzz face/muff sounds like, and even if you never use them, it's no loss.

You'd still be using patch banks with the MS70CDR. And I find the MS70CDR much harder to navigate than the Zoom G3.

G3 is boxed for return :(

Not saying it's a bad piece of kit, it just isn't for me.

    Stompboxes are my weapon!

Sorry it didn't work out. I too love stompboxes more than multis. Simplicity wins most of the time.

do you mean you want a vox delaylab?
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    you do indeed sir.

If your budget keeps going up have a look at a H9 ;-)
