Band Recordings

Short of going into a studio I've just collated a bunch of (very!!) raw band recordings so neighbouring venues can have a listen. If they require anything more professional we'll see to it. Anyway, thought I'd post them! We're not going to be playing Wembley lol... but I enjoy it

like the tunes you are doing, Pat Benatar is a favourite of mine and The tourists version i only wanna be with you was a tune i played many years ago when i was in a band. Thanks for sharing. ps We belong was the tune my wife picked to be played on our wedding day.ahhhhhhh .

Ah cool, that's nice!
My fave ever tune is "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship but it's not really for a dual-guitar band. 

They dynamic is goodin the band - I like the rockier tunes but also enjoy the lighter stuff the female singers suggest - makes for a good mix.

I think that's something you would remember being discussed.   I'm not surprised you're annoyed.   

 iirc your band isn't gigging full on though (as in every week) yet so maybe they are a bit more laid back about things like that.  It could be they wanted to throw something different into that gig and didn't want to burden you if you're feeling overloaded with the tunes - would be a lot nicer to involve you in that discussion though and at some point they are probably rehearsing with that line up though so I'd feel uncomfortable.    Talk to them and ask how they would feel if the position was reversed.

Supposedly it was said as a joke and I never caught on. But they're doing the extra songs, just not with another guitarist (!!) - I deleted the post as will give them the benefit of the doubt, as that's the sort of guy I am.

I really enjoyed the Whitesnake one and "We Belong" but thought the singing on "Only Wanna be with you" wasn't suited to the voice. 

Always good to get it recorded and pick the bones....It's a good way of improving.

@thomasross20 You sound like a very decent covers band, mate. The singers are good and harmonise well and in the right places. The guitar playing is good as well. I see on your Facebook page you have another guitarist (the blonde girl). Does she play electric as well?

We're trying to get a decent demo (and PA!!) else clubs wont book us. 

She mainly plays the acoustic and if there's an electric bit she'll use an FX box, but I do think dedicated electric for electric parts is better. She also does keyboards.

Couple of comments...

Watch your tempos (tempi?) eg. I Only Want To Be With You - way too fast. Slow it down. Make it so people can dance to it. l like the segue into When Tomorrow Comes.

The drumming seems a little ... samey, ie. exactly the same pattern in pretty much every song. Maybe a bit of variation?

In general (and this is about the recording) the balance is wrong - you need to get the drums quieter in comparison to the guitar/bass whilst keeping the vocals on top.

Overall, I like the vox and guitars. Very promising!
