Making a patchbox - isolation?

Planning on making up a little 4 way patchbox for my pedalboard- one loop for the front-of-amp pedals, one for the ones in the effects loop. So, eight jack sockets, a 1590b or similar sized enclosure and a little bit of wire and bish bosh, done, right?

Had a look at the equivalent Bright Onion patchbox and the blurb mentions that each set of jacks is isolated to avoid ground loops. Necessary, or just nice to have? How do you go about achieving this if it's a necessary feature?

Please explain as though I were an educationally subnormal chimpanzee. Electricity refuses to make any sense to me.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
