School Zig Zags....

What's Hot

If I was to take photos of the selfish idiots who park on zig zags and then pass those photos on to the police/council - is there anything they can do.

I'm fed up with the constant disregard for kids safety outside my youngest's school.

Nice Jag too - assume they paid for it with the insurance money they got when they lost the use of their legs....

  • I live opposite our kid's school and it makes me so angry.  Have a look at this one -

When my kids were at Primary this used to annoy the hell out of me. Always seemed to be the biggest, poshest cars. A couple of times I took photos of number plates whilst the occupants were still in the cars (I am a very shy, retiring type so this was quite out of character for me) and this seemed to be enough for them to drive off.

The council/traffic wardens aren't very interested (as I understand it they can't give them an enforcable fine for parking on zig zags). The school might be persuaded to get the police to do an occasional check ( they did the odd sweep for cars blocking local residents drives and otherwise parking illegally).

  • @RobDavies I'd say yes you got the jag driver bang to rights. Clearly documented case with identification of flouting laws advertised on the pole behing the vehicle. Give it the police. They may decide they can't be arsed to prosecute but they've no logical reason not to.

It's an automatic 3 points if the police catch you, so yes, send it off. After parking on double red lines it's absolutely the worst parking offence there is.

Pretty much my experience too when my kids were at school. Always seemed to be yummy mummies in 4x4s who had no shame or common sense and seemed to think the law didn't apply to them. The school complained to the local police several times, but nothing much ever happened.

@RobDavies. Dob the git in, it'll make you feel better if nothing else!

The worst I’ve seen is when I was travelling around the western M25 in the fast lane and noticed a car stopped about half a mile ahead of me. People were swerving like crazy to avoid it, and I had a bit of a moment too. When I passed, it was an XJ6, parked in the fast lane, with a bloke jacking it up at the back to change a wheel. The remaining 3 punters were stood behind the car, with all their suitcases on the motorway.

There's a group on facebook for our town where people go it to rant and spread gossip and such. 99% of the posts are about dodgy parking! But since it was started the local police have been out doing spot checks and issuing points etc, so maybe it helped.

My mate started the page and made me a moderator on it. However I've since left cos if I hear one more f******g person moan about parking I'm gonna  kill somebody

The were dead lucky that Lixarto wasn't coming down the fast lane in his socialist war tank! :D

My mum contacted the council about just such behaviour on zig zags outside the school next to her house on a narrow residential street, and it lead to them re-painting the zig zags and putting up signs  warning  motorists that this was a school etc. and to date, the road has been remarkably clear.

I sent the image with a covering email to Eastleigh police and just got this email back...

    Rob,

Many thanks for the image that you sent in. We have traced the owner of the car and been to the school to advise them. We will be drafting a letter to go out to all parents / drivers that drop off at school that the school will send out shortly.

We will also go and visit the "offender" and educate on this accassion only.

    Regards,
