You're right. That'll be the famous Peter Green Les Paul that Gary Moore purchased. In an interview Peter said he put "..reflective black mirror tape on it for a while, then I took it off again" ....

    Have a wisdom ... :-)

You and me both  =)) I can barely remember what I was doing yesterday, but can recall faint snippets of information I read years ago.

I weaned myself off the LPF by way of the even more obsessive world of Led Zeppelin bootlegs. There are threads which timeline Page's switchtip and jack socket changes... I kid you not!!

The accepted wisdom from the Les Paul fora appears to suggest that this was his Burst covered in "Fablon"  - because Peter thought that Bursts were getting a little common!! Who's able to separate the myth from the fact with this most enigmatic man. Here's another shot that shows how "flat" the finish seems to be....
now obviously I dont know fact - but have you ever tried putting normal fablon/sticky back plastic on anything other than a completely flat surface ?  near impossible to get a smooth finish like that.
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

  • That's the great thing about myth, facts need not apply... :))

A friend of mine, Adrian Ingram, told me his story of going to see Peter Green. The guitar was green. Green snooker felt covering the top of his burst, when asked Peter was fed up with people thinking his tone and playing was all down to the guitar.

Paul, Did you get the story from Adrian? Or another source...could be true! And probably didn't last long as it wouldn't have stayed put long.,,,

  • I remember reading it on the LPF some time ago Hayden, where fact is often stranger than fiction.. :))

Thanks to the link to a great site. It brings back great memories of those far off days, such optimism and belief in a better future.
