After spending the last hour or so playing through some of my favourite tunes on my guitar I especially liked playing Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell' so much so that I played it again twice. It's not especially difficult to play but it gives me that 'grin' factor.

What's yours?

Bit of a standard but Molly's Chambers by K.O.L. was always a good one for me to play with the band .. some fun stops in there and an overall pretty rocking song.

Rebel Yell is cool - I only really know the intro. White Wedding also rocks.
I'm just learning La Bamba for the band which is good.

Disco 2000 is probably the most funnest song I've ever played live. 1030 on a friday night, never fails.

Enter Sandman Mostly cos it was the first song I learned fully.

Judas Priest's Breaking the law, just simply fun.

Motorheads Ace of Spades (actually any Motorhead song) turn everything to 10 and blast out them riffs.......

Anything by Maiden, just cos it's Maiden.

Dead Embryonic cells, Refuse/Resist, Territory - Sepultura, for when you need to crush something.

Cocaine, first song I ever played live.

18 & Life (Skid Row) and Livewire (AC/DC) done live at Manicfest a few years ago.

towards the end it gets kinda relentless..
a lapse in concentration for just a moment and you're out and it's not all that easy to drop back in..

major major hat tip to DT for playing that'n live..
cos it's a real "nuts on the block" piece..

White Wedding is a hoot.  It is hard to keep it in check and just chug-a-chug-a rather than full on, full volume power chords throughout. It's just so much fun !

    Others that I love playing:

Wishing Well (sadly no one else in the band does)
    One Vision
    Hammer To Fall
    Boys are Back in Town
    Addicted to Love
    Stuck in the Middle
    Maggie May

Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Some great songs there chaps, I'm not sure I could manage a Dream Theater tune though! I've never learnt Addicted to Love but I reckon it's one I'd enjoy. Might have a go tomorrow if I get the time.

Shot in the Dark by Ozzy.  Took me about 2 years of practicing on and off to get it up to speed.

I love Hotel California on the ol double neck, great solo

Comfortably Numb, 2 great solos and a cracking song

Time  - Pink Floyd - another great slow solo that you can really put some feel into

Beat it - just so much fun doing the riff and the solo is epic

Panama - Van Halen - love the song and always try and play it as close as poss

Uptown Funk - simple enough yet to get it really tight takes practice but people go nuts for it

Sex on fire - love the song - never get bored playing it and pride myself in having the discipline to play it exactly like the record and not put a lot of unnecessary shit in it for the sake of boredom

There's loads of others as well. Being a guitarist in a good covers band is a joy and the money just sweetens the deal even more

Anything by Dokken.  Kiss of Death or Standing in the Shadows.  Anything.  I really like the double stops, pedal tones and making up solos George Lynch style.  Plus they have great chord progressions underneath.  Also anything by early Wasp, tunes like Torture never stops on a TOM Bridge rock out or even School Daze or Somebody or something plus Chris Holmes solos are great. I like old Ozzy Jake E Lee stuff and Rhoads, but can play mostly everything by Rhoads and Jake E Lee solos are a bit boring.  Ratt too but a bit like Lynch.  Dokken and Lynch is where it is at, although all that '80's stuff crosses over.  You can hear lots of players in it

Erm and Jimi. Castles and making stuff up like that and some SRV

Love VH but playing stuff not so much EVH has a very unique way of approaching timing, phrasing and songs, I can get it and mimic it but it doesn't really sit that well with me as it's mostly about the rhythms.  Sometimes it's good to okay to check yourself though.

Pedal tones and screaming solos.  Don't really get off on power ballads or solos. Like the heavy stuff without going Emo or Thrash on the situation and losing the heaviness and rock.

I love playing some of the classic rock tracks that groove on single string riffs that end typically in a power chord.
    Good examples of this are:

    Walk This Way - Aerosmith
    Rock Candy - Montrose
    Beyond The Universe - Derringer
    Makin' Magic - Pat Travers

Also love it when you get power-chords on the off-beat such as in World Gone Wild by Gov't Mule
i.e. at 2:10 into the track:

These songs have so much punch
