When putting drums in tracks I'm using midi packs, the midi roll in protools and a keyboard to act as a midi controller,
I was thinking about getting a "pad" based midi controller to just tap out simple beats on a small unit rather than an 81 key keyboard,
something like the Native Instruments Maschine Mikro MK2
or the Akai MPC Element
I'm aware there are others, what are you guys using, or what would you like to use ?
I'm not looking at a drum setup, just a great pad based simple to tidy up some of my messy programming
something good, solid with some features eg: velocity sensitive pads etc, looking at £300 max budget, but it doesn't have to be £300, the cheaper the better.
The Maschine Mikro MK2 is looking pretty hot at the moment to me, but I'm not sure if you can use it just as a midi controller, of if you have to use the Native instruments software all the time.

Just searching around the forum & noticed this old thread.
Are you still using the Akai machine?
Now that I have got EZ Drummer 2 working fine, I think the next step for me is to look at getting a midi keyboard with pads or an MPC style machine...just looking to see if you had kept with it or upgraded?
I have an NI Maschine which I use to create my drum tracks.
I use a Micro .. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/maschine/production-systems/maschine-mikro/

Think I will go first with a keyboard with pads. I suppose most people end up buying a keyboard & then something like what you have got as well.
Cheers will take a look at it!
Hence it is for sale, sadly.
