Can that be a hard switch at heel down then?

    I feel proper-thick if it's possible and I couldn't work out how!
    I don't think so
I don't think heel down is an 'event' that can be used to trigger anything
I think it would just be a sweep to 0%

Nah literally just having the mix at 0 is the same as having it off. There's no difference in sound in the helix.

So I just use heel down as a faux off setting

Does that mean it turns on gradually above that point?

Yeah. I set toe down to be 50%. It's actually really practical live

    Gotcha!

On the VG-88 you could set the end values for the sweep, but also at what point on the sweep the "ends" were.

So heel full down could bypass a block, but as soon as you moved it up it'd be activated.

That's pretty cool, have you stuck in on ideascale?

I have not. I probably should.

Actually, I'd like them to "model" (har har) the entire Roland/Boss control approach, with internal LFOs that can be assigned to anything, and an assignable envelope detector too. That'd be ace.

My Helix was picked up yesterday by it's new owner, and with it went all reasons to not buy new pedals so I'm off to Denmark St in a bit to find some toys.

I must admit, it's a tremendous unit and did everything I wanted it for, Ijust got bored of not swapping and changing pedals!!!!

    I'm the opposite
Every time I abandon multifx and build a pedal board it ends up being massive to cope with all the FX I need
Then I really miss the lack of expression pedal control across multiple pedals at once
And the surface for failure becomes much bigger
Even wee stupid things like the knobs on the pedals getting jiggled is a PITA if you do a lot of gigs

I'm just glad to have a rig now that does everything I need it to and can play through it at home, through an amp and direct and still have all of my go to sounds on hand.

    I hate changing things

Remember all the fine pedals in the Classifieds. They're all gazing up at you with their big puppy-eye knobs.

Surely you must admit that the conventional way is your preferred way!! Real is always better than a modelled sound right ? ;)

this is one of the appeals of getting a Helix for me...plus by all accounts its dead easy to get around. But for me personally live - I am already fully away no modeller is gonna beat my amp and pedal board...and you all know I'm right to don't ya ? ;)

@Siraxeman - not at all, psychological elements aside!

@Sporky - Indeed I will, there's a few things I'm aiming to try out prior to buying/WTB's though so will see what's local first. Currently trying to figure out what the "minimum" size board's worth buying - I'm leaning towards PT2 dimensions (24"12" ish) but I'm wary that there won't be masses of space left once it's filled with my "core" sounds. I guess I'll need a larger/second one at that point... such a shame. ;)

I think you're right for you.

For me the Helix is proving much "better" than the amps-and-pedals setup I had before.

    Nope
I have a lot of amps and a lot of pedals
For me the platinum standard is 'what do I gig'
Part of it is convenience but if it couldn't cut it then I couldn't do it
Having said that I am using a valve power section and normal cabs

And when I say amps I mean Amps with a capital A
Give you an example of what gets left behind when I take the Helix out
    Friedman BE100
    Matchless DC 30
    Bad Cat Hot Cat 30
    DR Z Maz 38 anniversary
    Mesa Boogie MKIV
    Fender Twin
    Blackstar Artisan 30 and 15
    Budda Superdrive (pre peavy)
Two rock studio 35, Jet 22 and Gainmaster 22

So I'm not just someone who doesn't know what a good amp sounds like ..
