I'm working my way through the whole of the Stone Roses Blackpool Ballroom live set from 1989.  Learning from a mix of tab, ear and watching the dvd to work out fingering.  Interesting to see some of the ways that John Squire plays phrases that are fingered totally differently to how I had figured them out by ear.

I'm still working on Train of Consequences and also Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth.  Both have easy enough rhythm parts that I can play up to tempo no problem, it's just the solos!

Currently trying to piece together Anastasia by Slash, I've learned most of the main bits over last couple of years but trying to tidy it all up add in the fills etc and get the last solo sounding smooth.

Good song for a mixture of techniques which is why I'm bothering I'm trying to focus some practice time on learning or getting better at things and exercises bore me.

Currently renewing my acquaintance (which some might have said was only passing anyway) with a few covers from a set list from about 10 years ago:

Husker Du - Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely
The Jam - It's Too Bad (the riff's OK, but playing it and singing over it in the outro is quite hard)
Supergrass - Lenny (timing is critical)
Placebo - Teenage Angst, Bruise Pristine
    Pixies - Cecilia Ann

Nothing too complex but all great fun to play and sing. Trying to get myself performance ready again after a long lay off.

Aye, it has quite a few techiniques in it I can "do" but not do well or efficiently, including the finger picking for acoustic intro, the alternate picking in the main lead line the verse riff and the first solo, and the trem picking in the second solo.

It's a pretty awesome "guitar" song to learn.
