What's Hot

So after our first set on friday, I knocked my guitar off it's stand...

Not the cleanest break ever, eh. Do we think it's terminal?

    Bad one dude. :( Did you have to cancel the rest of the gig?

    No, thankfully we had two spares on standby, and I play mandolin most of the time! We went down a storm too so it wasn't too painful.

    Having seen what @FelineGuitars did with that Judas Priest guitar, I'd say it's eminently fixable.

    I saw that thread first time around. Impressive work, but not really an option on a guitar worth about £200!

    Got to be worth a punt with some glue, right?

    Difficult to say. It can be pushed back together pretty snugly. It'll never be an invisible repair but long term could I rely on it? I wouldn't want to gig it again only to have the headstock ping off!

    @ICBM, what say you?

    That will mend ok - get a simple mend for strength and ignore the cosmetics (as the cosmetic bit of the repair tends to be more expensive than the physical repair.)

    Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

    Thanks for that @FelineGuitars, very reassuring! Just as well I'm not fussed about looks :)

    You can always go back and have the looks redone later , but I would do the woodworking fix and see if it holds out.
    The join itself will e strong - the only issues can be that the wood fibres 1-2mm away from the break may have been weakened and if you were to knock it or drop it , then that is where a break would reappear if at all.

    Definitely. That's the worry, it didn't cleanly break off, it fell face first, cracked, then the string tension pulled the remainder off.
