Help needed to identify time signature?

Bungle1Bungle1 Frets: 133
This was written by my old band, we recorded the drums live so never needed to set metronomes etc. I've written a new tune that follows a similar pattern but I need to use MIDI loops to create the drum track. I can't really tell if its 6/4, 6/8, 3/4 etc.

If someone who knows more about this could have a listen and give me their opinion it would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

It's not 3/4 because the beats are too fast for that. It could be 6/8 but that's not ideal because the round is composed of four bars not two. So best is either the compound quadruple signature of 12/8, or it could be 4/2, with the strumming in triplets. (They amount to the same thing). I prefer the latter, because later on in the song the drummer also beats on the crotchet as well as the triplets, in that familiar 'strawberry flan' rhythm.

  • Nice song :)
    It's a compound meter.
    Either 12/8 or 6/8,

I'm leaning more towards 6/8 as it seems to bounce along in blocks of 2 beats. Vocals for one bar, guitar answering phrase for another bar.

This made me laugh....I can imagine the following note being drafted in the late 70's

    Dear Frank

Toad-O-Line? Time Sig? What the fuck....

    Yrs,
    Vinnie.
