Not sure I really want to part company with this but I'm just not getting around to playing it and in my view it's a waste of an amazing vintage instrument. It's 1953 in great condition, amazing sunburst. Original pickup, pots and cap and knobs. I have the original tuners but they're shrunken so I put replacements on to keep them intact. No holes were drilled. It's been re-fretted with nice fret wire and was an amazing job. I would be looking for £3000, these are fairly hard to get hold of and you wouldn't be able to buy a modern Gibson for that! Comes with a decent hard case. More photos on request. Collection from Harrogate. http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i353/koss59/image.jpg1_zpsw0jkijak.jpg

  • The paint jobs on these early 50's Gibson's has never been surpassed in my humble opinion.

    A thing of beauty.

Best of fortune with finding it's next keeper.

Bump for interest. I fancy a 60's Tele or Gibson thin line.

    Thread hijack...sorry!
I have a guitar like this but no pick up. It's just an acoustic. It has a banner saying "only a Gibson is good enough" or something like that. It has dots for markers. The guy I bought it from said it was from the 40's.
sorry I don;t have any photos at the moment. Anyone got an idea as to what it is? L40 or L50 or something like that.
    Sorry again.
That is a lovely guitar you have by the way :)

You'd have to post some pics mate, I've got a Gibson book somewhere with lots of old archtop models so could look it up for you.

I've got an L-50 from 1952, it's a much smaller body than this and is a solid top rather than ply. Great little guitar.
