OK I know this is a veeeeeery long shot, but I have a customer with an Italian restaurant who is looking for modern music in keeping with the Italian theme.

Anyone out there got any experience of modern/ classy/ cool Italian music?

  • Not bad. Bit more practice and a few gigs under his belt and he'll be able to think about putting in for Italy's Got Talent, you know.

  • Zucchero has some great material particularly Miserere. Gino Vanelli is great too.

Paolo Conte all the way my man.

Seeing him at the Royal Festival Hall last November was a real treat.

You know the famous tune: "S'wonderful, s'wonderful, s'wonderful, gooda lucka mah baby......chips, chips, da dee doo dee doo....."

He is the classiest, coolest septegenarian on the planet. The gruff vocals lead some to say he's the Tom Waits of Italy, but that's missing the point, since Tom Waits ain't even the Paolo Conte of California...

Good place to start is his Best Of on Nonesuch records, the one with a black and white cover pic of him in a black raincoat.

    Ennio Morricone.

Some of the classiest, coolest music ever to come out of Italy (or anywhere). Not especially modern now, but he's still working as far as I know.

Indeed..I see all these notifications and I hadn't a clue what was going on..

In fact, I'm not entirely sure I can remember which client was after Italian music in the first place....

The most modern Italian music I remember hearing was PFM. What happened to them? Before that, I think it was Antonio Vivaldi ...

Oh actually, they do have one track that sounds nice throughout - all piano. Quite a lot of Romantic classical influence.
