Channel Footswitch

I bust my channel switcher this week, I've fixed it but may need to replace or at least get a reserve in just in case. 

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get one? 

I keep looking at Voodooman on eBay but £50 seems expensive for what it is. Ideally I want one that is very small and takes my jack lead.

I have a voodoo man switch- he was ok with me but other people have vastly different experiences.

Otherwise, what amp do you have?

It's a SLO Clone. 

Yeah I'd heard that about Voodooman. Not really what I want to be getting involved in really.

I've used these loads- I replace the fixed cable with a witchcraft jack & use a regular guitar cable.

I've never tried another but my guess was that it should be pretty easy. Thanks for the link, ideally I'd want a really tiny unit.

Handy with a soldering iron?

You could knock something up for under £20- it is a really simple circuit.

I've never used one before, I'd imagine that I'd end up burning my eyes out or my fingers off etc....

Exactly. To my knowledge, though, the SLO is the same as the Jet City amps (well, vice-versa) where the switch selects the clean channel when closed, and the drive channel when open.

It's pretty easy to knock one together, though; I got all the bits for mine from Bright Onion, then just copied the circuit. As I recall, the resistor for my Jet City was a 62k.

Okay, bit nooby, but are different foot switches different? I always used to use my vox valvetronix one because it was a tough bastard, and worked on every amp I ever used, Peavey, Marshall, vox, etc...

A standard latching footswitch with no LED will work with almost any amp. There are a very few that need a momentary switch, but not many.

If it has an LED it becomes problematic since the LED can be either in series or in parallel with the switch, either polarity, or if in parallel with or without a resistor. I think that's six combinations, only one of which will both switch the amp and make the LED work correctly. If you use the wrong one, in the best case it just won't work the LED, in the middle it won't switch the amp either, and in the worst case it could blow the LED.
