Are any of you holding on to a guitar, that you should probably move on?

  • @stimpsonslostson, do you have any pics of the V100? I'm a sucker for Raygun's work :)
    @djspecialist, here you go.
Halfway down the page.. I've since taken out the Wilkinson p'ups and out in an Iron Gear Blues Engine & dirty Torque (but they're equally reliced so in keeping with the guitar).
Thanks for sharing that.  Some bloody nice looking instruments on that page, your V100 included.

    Guitar Player Repair Guide.

Odd title, sounds like a repair guide for broken guitarists.

My Status bass. It's a total one off as it not only has LEDs but it also has the GB basses flashing system (which is only available on their basses!). Great fun, but I only really play my knackered Squier bass.

Never liked the colour, kind of yellowy/orangy. Maybe I should get it resprayed???

  • Probably, but the counter is that I wouldn't get much for any of the ones I don't play (not much market for that type, or it was not a highly desirable guitar to start with). Mainly applies to acoustics, and an old Antoria Precision copy that's seen a few mods in its time. Moving them on would be for space reasons not finance.

Only bits and pieces of guitars that are cluttering up the workshop (Thunder 1-A / Charvette / bits of acoustics / etc.) none of which are worth the effort of putting back together . . . yet.

I'm a brutal with my gear these days since I'm not gigging so much. If it doesn't get used it gets sold. Hey does anybody want a Yamaha acoustic or a nice black tele? Check the classifieds!.

I'm starting to annoy myself about my indecision here. In short, I bought a lovely looking PRS SC245 last year, it's a beautiful looking, playing and sounding thing (limited Jet White with gold h/w), the problem is, since then I bought a PRS Stripped '58 which is arguably a better guitar (feel wise, I prefer the TOM style setup and the tone of the 57/08's).

Just wondering when I'll ever play the white one over the goldtop.

I don't *need* to sell it, any money from a sale would only go on another guitar, but I don't *need* it either (2x LP's + Stripped '58). No particular sentimental value to it, it's just a stunning looking, great playing guitar.

Anyone else doing similar? I'm not a guitar collector, so nuts for me to keep it really, but something is holding me back from moving it on.
    Obviously you need a telecaster...

  • My 335-alike is a fantastic guitar but realistically the body is a bit big for me.

I'd sell it, but it's got sentimental value and I'd never get anywhere near what I'd want for it. Someone on here was selling one for about a year at a very reasonable price with upgraded electrics and it didn't shift.

I'm not desperate for cash or space, so mine is going nowhere.

    No.

I have a nice selection for different moods, Les Paul, LP Junior, Strat and Jag that all get played.

I do fancy a classic series Tele or Strat in a nice colour though.

I've had this but have recently managed to move on all the stuff I didn't have any reason to keep.

I'm down to just the nine now :D
I'm at 9 electrics with another project on the way, this is the only one I'm having a wobble about!
My larrivee acoustic. I rarely play it because it's loud and I mainly play electric. Undecided whether to sell or not.
I've got a Yamaha acoustic I feel largely the same about. Noise isn't the factor, but I just don't play it.
Fender American Standard Strat - Fantastic guitar that sees literally no play time at all - need to get rid of it because it bums me out that its just sitting there
This is kind of how I feel seeing the 245. Think if I moved it on, I'd either look for a LPB JM or get in touch with you about that Dan Armstrong!

Yup. Have a JV strat that I think I'll bother the classifieds with very soon. Just need to take some pics. Probably an Ibanez too.

I'll add my treasured (not enough, clearly) Yamaha SG1000s, made in late 1980 as far as I can tell, but rarely played.

I'd wanted one since I was a teenager.  Bought it on here about 6 or 7 years ago and loved it. But GAS has punted me in all sorts of directions and I now find I don't play it much.  I've been toying with selling for ages but always find a reason not to: someone else selling one; that Berwick upon Tweed feller flooding the market with them; or simply playing it and remembering how great it is.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

  • Probably could move on 15 and still have too many! In fact, if you are looking for any particular kind of guitar, pm me, I may have one!

Reassuring to know I'm now the only one who is doing this!

Think I'll put the acoustic up for sale later though, just not using it at all. Still undecided on the PRS :D

On just this board alone, there must be £000s worth of unplayed guitars!

    One big WOW!

Do you guys do this with other items to or just guitar related.

My Gibson SG standard, mainly holding on because I stupidly think it's worth more than the current market value. Might be a tiny case of attachment and knowing that for it's resale value I'd struggle to find something of an equal calibre.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.
