I've got a Roland mesh kit in my garage which (truth be told) I haven't been near in a year since I started playing guitar in a gigging band again .... this thread is making me want to dust off the sticks ....

Got me thinking about it too. I've always been a table-top player and am constantly tapping out beats.
I was thinking about picking up a decent practice pad and pair of sticks and working on some rudimentals .

Another drummer here. Much better drummer than I am guitarist. I picked up the drums at school even though I was learning guitar because I wanted to be in a mates band and at my school there were 987 people who played guitar an no drummers. I got into about 10 band and I got real good real quick. Ended up playing in a nationally touring black sabbath tribute, another band supported the verve, the levellers and long pigs. I gave up in 2002 and have just picked them up again and started another band....

I'm not a drummer - I'm just about a guitarist. But we bought my youngest a drumkit for his sixth birthday. He's always - from very early - shown a sense of rhythm unmatched by his siblings. He's been having some lessons at school and is doing well.

And I've managed through all this to achieve an ambition of having a drum kit in the house. So when no one is in I put some favourite songs and have a bash at playing along. I love it.

What would be a really cheap as chips utter dogshit full size acoustic drumkit that I could get? It's just for DIYing my own e-kit out of, so I obviously want to spend as little as possible!

Not dogshit, but there are loads of them about so they are cheap.

I need rid of my "Dragon" kit. Only need rid of the shells and snare though. Using the cymbal stand for my e-kit and the cymbals that came with it are long gone.

If you could PM me sizes and what attachments come with it, that'd be grand. Basically my intention is to get the drill out on it, make some DIY triggers, push mesh heads on it, and add some Roland or 2Box pads!

And if you're up for some sort of deal vis-a-vis mixing, I'm sure we can certainly come to an arrangement. I'm having a lot of fun right now just mixing some stuff and not having to worry too much about my own music. Nice to take a bit of a break. I am planning on setting aside a few days over xmas to record some DI's, but other than that nothing else major on the cards.

I have no idea on shipping, never sent anything that big before, although obviously not that heavy.

Maybe worth putting a post in a higher traffic subforum to see if anyone is making the journey from south-east to london any time soon and would be willing to drop them off.

I did this about three years ago, my first drumming attempt at a gig, with a £200 rusty pearl kit.

I've had an old premier olympic kit for years. I can sort of play and have played in a jam band a while back. Although I'm best on bass, I just want to play guitar.
