If I was to buy them (ones intended for Aussie retail), would they work sweet on UK power supplies?

From what I've read they seem to, I just wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with this?

I suppose this is open to whether USA ones would too? Does 9v not matter what supply you plug into it?

If it runs on a 9V supply then it'll be fine - just use a 230V -> 9V supply and all is good

Yep

Just watch out for pedals that have a built in mains supply running at 110V.   
Anything that needs a 9V adaptor will be fine though, just use a 230V version and you're good.

Aussie pedals that are mains powered will work fine in the UK too.

Tube pedals often have internal power supplies.

The vast majority of pedals are 9V centre negative (boss style) but there are some out there that run direct from the mains - usually bigger like the mk1 carl martin plexitone. I just mentioned as it's worth a double check in case you ship something from the states and find it needs 110V.

I've been looking at Strymons from Australian stores (and eBay) as they're generally about £100 less (for Mobius and Big Sky at least) due to exchange rate and I want to use my Hot Stone Deluxe for power so no need for adaptor etc...

So what I'm reading looks good!

Australia has a 10% VAT (Called GST) tax rate, which will account for some of the difference.

If you import into the UK then you will have to pay 20% VAT when you get it into this country, plus shipping.

I'd be surprised if it worked out cheaper than buying in this country would be, esp if you are prepared to buy used.
