There is actually an angled blade on part of the upper arm that closes down... I'm wondering if its an old can opener type thing?

My dad had one and used it every day. He was a bus conductor. He used to punch the tickets with it.

This. I have one. It's for crimping non-screw clamp fittings on to airlines.
Edit: The head of mine is slightly different although I still think it's for crimping something!

Tin opener. Bottom bit of the fixed jaw is designed to go against side of can, top bit hooks over the lip (just like the pan handle). If it's an angled blade on the moving jaw it's a tin opener. If the blade weren't angled it could be something else. Sorry, I know that's a bit dull.

Yeah the blade is angled... and this is the most likely answer yet...

I just wonder what kind ot tin you would open with it, as it would take quite a while to puncture around a normal tin can??
