Should we have a categorised list of YT links?

As well all know, there's all sorts of stuff on YT ...

I'm thinking perhaps we could try to pool our favourite music/gear related stuff into one discussion here, a sort of FretBoard favourites list.  I'll put the actual discussion into the Music section, but there'll be lots more views captured if I start the discussion here in OT!

What would the categories be?

 

• Learning resources
• Reviews of individual guitars/amps/fx/etc (separate categories for each)
• Making & modding
• Examples of "wow, this is amazing playing" vids
• Stuff involving guitars/amps/etc that doesn't fit into any of the above
• My cat is so cute.

(That last one was a joke)

Don't start posting links yet ... this is just to start people thinking about what the categories of links should be ...

Howsabouts if ... they got split into separate discussions for each category as they became too long? 

Just thinking that there's a lot of people out there who'll have a lot of stuff bookmarked in their own browsers which would be good to share more widely?

Great idea!

I think we'd want a new Category on the site for Video threads, then one discussion for each type of video. Then the thread serves essentially as a playlist - like the current "Favourite bass tone" thread is doing. And it avoids excessive video posting across the other discussions on the site.

For video categories my take would be (slightly adjusted from @TTony's):

• Learning / How-To
• Gear Reviews (possibly split into subsections though I'm not sure it's necessary)
• Making & Modding
• Amazing Performances
• Members' Videos (can be cross-posted to others as appropriate)
• Miscellaneous (but on-topic)
• Off topic (my cat is so cute)

Please, please please,  NO CUTE CATS.

Now don't get me wrong Im not a cat hater.  We have one at the moment who's 19 and completely mad and at one stage hen i first met Mrs T she had 6  (yes it should have been a warning, but you do stupid stuff when your in luurve).  Its just that my Face book feed is filled with lol cats,  I get emails from people at work with Lol cats.  Cant a chap have at least one cat free area in his life.

makes more sense

its just threads with pages and pages and pages are a pain to navigate through..........especially if you dont browse them regularly
