Do people think these protesters at his inclusion on the BBC SPOTY shortlist have a point? They contend that a gobby racist wouldn't be nominated, so a homophobic mysogenist shouldn't be on the list either.

What standards are the SPOTY nominees supposed to embrace? I haven't watched it since I was a kid and Princess Anne used to win it. If it's based on sporting prowess then what does it matter how much of a tool they are (and Fury appears to be a massive tool). Or are they supposed to be ambassadors for sport? In which case why was Fury nominated in the first place?

Take his achievement out of it (and leave the state of Boxing at the door too) and I don't think he should be nominated, no place for shit like that these days and it's through official channels like this that hammer that point home-it's part of the process of progress.

As an aside SPOTY is a load of shit anyway isn't it? I don't know anyone who gives a shit who wins it.

He was on Celebrity Pointless the other week. I'd missed the start and had to work out who it was, I thought someone's drunk uncle had wondered onto the show.

Sports personality as a concept is daft anyway, even more so when the BBC actually mean Sports Achievement of the year.
