JPF Amps "Rockumentary" + sound samples on Youtube

We've now uploaded a "documentary" about JPF Amps, which is essentially me talking about how the company came into being and some of the thought that went into the design of our guitar amps, which aren't copies of the usual suspects (or indeed anything else) + some sound samples played by a good friend of mine David Page.

For those of you who have trouble sleeping the full 33 minutes can be seen here:

If you just want the sound samples these have been extracted here:

Hopefully I will be coming to see you next year ... after hearing your products at that little pub get-together we had ... I have definitely promised myself one of your amps.

Very enjoyable , thank you. Admirable openness. I'd do one like that, but I'm far too shy! ;)

I have to admit it wasn't my idea. One of my customers is a film maker and he wanted to do something about our amps.

It was good fun to do, although I don't think I have a career in broadcasting.

Really nice video.  I would love to support a British maker (well, if I had the money) but you don't get many gainy amps around on the UK boutique.  However, if ever I wanted a more gentle sounding amp, you'll be on my list!

It's nice to know they are not just another tweed deluxe/bassman, which seem to be the go-to design.  Sounds like you've put some real thought and input into the design.  In particular, the bias design/explanation.  Very nice.

Are you an ex BBC dude?

I think I very vaguely know your business partner

  • I watched that last night, well made and interesting. Certainly not dumbed down ( which may be a pity in my case)

I'm not ex-BBC; my business partner is a BBC engineer.

    An interesting question!

I'm originally from Norfolk, but went to school in the Midlands (near Leics) and have lived in London for 20 years.

There were odd words in Midlands-style, but mostly southern to my ear

Ah that'll be it. I think he worked in the control room while I was there.

    Nice video man.

I've often seen your amps at Regent Sounds…i say often because i work near Denmark st so end up browsing that street at least once a week.

I will have some amp modding work soon…good to know i now know someone from the forum and who is very close by to me.

cool amps…keep up the great work!

I need to get round to visiting Angel Music. I read recently that Mik Whitnall picked up some vintage guitars from there.

Excellent watch, nice to get the insight around what drove the design etc

Something that ( budget permitting ) other smaller UK builders should consider ?

I'm sure theres one or two budding video experts who would probably do for expenses and some preferential discounts ??
