Pearl white or tort - but some torts are more torty than others!

Congrats then! Not sure about pearl with a figured body where you can see the grain. Might be a bit much?

I agree with this - it might be too many textures to use pearl or even tort.

At risk of being boring, I think black or white would go best. Maybe 3ply black

  • I have often fancied a red guitar with a Mexican flag scratchplate. I was reminded of this in Guitarist when they had a picture of one in the Cabronita article on the side bar about WDMusic (IIRC). This kind of thing :

I would go with the Fender mint-green - which is basically what an old white guard ages into.

    Nice body.

    +1

On certain guitars, pearloid looks great.

See now I'm thinking pearloid, and matching tuner buttons
    Red ones are better.

I'd go single ply black and ideally a matte finish.
    Yup.

Not keen on the tortoise idea myself, given the red-ish body finish. I think black would look a bit intense against red also. So I guess I'd say a nice white 3-ply could look classy, with chrome or nickel hardware. Maybe a white pearloid could work also, as long as it didn't seem too busy added to the visible wood grain of the body.

Assuming you could get one, a Matt graphite grey. I do agree that I f you could have a clear one it would look fantastic.

    Cream or pearly white!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

  • cream or mint.

  • Pearl will look hideous against the wood grain (not that is doesn't look hideous against solid colours too..) That tort mockup above looks grand :)

This is interesting! So much contrasting personal taste.

I think any of the darker colour options would either look hideous or like a tart's handbag, but plain bright white (probably single ply) or a second choice of white (not cream) pearl would look great. Cream pearl would be back into tart-o-caster territory.

And it *must* have chrome hardware, or a distant second, nickel. Gold would look vile.

    But it's not mine...

I did actually look up clear - I'd be ok with that (even with the route), also white is on the list, and white pearl on the list, with cream a possibility but less likely.

I really don't care for the Tort-on-red look (ta for the mockups btw)

and yes hardware will be chrome - gold's not really my bag, against any finish
    Red ones are better.
