Diamond files

What's Hot
For crowning frets.

The only ones that seem to get any love are sold by Stewmac, which is prohibitively expensive for us Brits.

I'm out of the loop, what do you use?

I've got one Stewmac one and two Hosco ones. They seem to me to be of comparable quality.

I think I got mine from Tone tech - Simnett do 'em too.

Hang on, they're not diamond coated.

I want to try something with a bit of bling.

Is your stewmac one diamond coated? There's not much difference between that and the hosco non-diamond coated?

I use the stewmac diamond file, stainless wears them out a fair bit so I think I'm on my third one now.. I like em but will give Hosco ones a shot next time I order, I'll let you know what they are like

I may go hosco and if I get busy, then go diamond. I hear it's mostly a time saving issue anyway.

    Thanks Sporky.

Went with a large sized Hosco from ToneTech (drove over there, great to do business with).

Tested it on a squier neck with worn frets, took some levelling!

The large size was a tad too big for the medium jumbos after being levelled out, so a bit of tilting was employed and it worked out just fine. Certainly took material off without too much effort, bit of chatter to be polished out but I don't mind that because I sand/polish them to death anyway.

Have some proper jumbo frets to work on next - so money wasn't wasted.

Will definitely give their medium sized file a go next.

I use Hosco and they seem fine to me - although I don't use stainless frets
