Recommendation - Internal screened cable for LP

I've got on the bench at home an Epiphone LP to rewire for a mate, the internal wiring between the switch and control cavity has a fault so I offered to replace the lot, what's best to use, Gibson style braided screen or some of the sub-minature RG174/179 type cable?.   He uses a lot of gain so I thought the better shielding would help reduce noise.
