I recently sold a vibraphone, and although the idea was 'Xmas money' I got seduced by this little black and white beauty. A 1988 Rickenbacker 610. It's lush!
It has one of those apocryphal skinny Rickenbacker necks, but it's absolutely solid and not at all whippy like an SG can be. It's got such a tight sound and does ridiculously high gain without getting all mushy- I haven't had a chance to try it at high volume yet though. It's very versatile, going from glassy through chimy to downright muddy- which is nice with fuzz. Mmmm... fuzz.
It looks a bit beaten up, but allegedly there was a batch of Jetglo guitars in the 80s that didn't get a very good paint job and flaked! Whatever, I like the lived-in look, which goes rather well with the unbound no-frills 610.
