While it is tragic that that chap died at such a young age, and I have every sympathy with his family, no more of those terrible films can only be a good thing.

  • Unfortunately for all of us, I'm sure there'll be more sequels.

Shit way to go though, hope they weren't conscious when that fire started :\

Very sad and a horrible way to go.
I don't think they will kill the franchise just because one actor dies.
    Films are entirely risible.

Poor bastard survives all the horrendous car shunts in the films, and his mate goes and drives into a lamp post. And they say the Americans don't do irony.

Ordinarily I'd have agreed, but check the films out, and I hope you'll cut me some slack here.

    Not aimed at you.

Just the risible use of "2" in the titles of some of the films.

  • Unbelievably I read somewhere before that the Fast & Furious film franchise are the biggest earner ever. I gather it's because every country in the world has it's own large share of idiots and fast and flashy cars and driving are seemingly universally attractive.

    This is true.

The franchise has made $1.5 Billion.

Which doesn't make it the biggest earner.

    15th, in fact.

Buzzfeed fail? Marvel Cinematic universe, and spiderman, and the x-men seperated arbitarily to bump harry potter up a notch...

Have they only used the box-office info? Apparently the first starwars movie took more in box office revenue than the prequel trillogy... they must have added in toy revenue as well surely

    Wow.
Star Wars AND Indiana Jones added don't top James Bond.

21 films (not counting the Casino Royale that's not part of the official canon, or Never Say Never Again) though they have 25 segments, so don't know what they've added in... vs 15 films...

Also they have the 4th one grossing about a billion dollars before they'd really invented a billion... I'm not sure I agree with the bars in this bar chart

A New Hope took $307million their bar indicates it took around $3 billion

And they have 25 out of 21 bond films. Difficult to believe things when some things are definitely wrong

    --Edit--

Hadn't noticed that they were "adjusted for inflation" or "made up"

Says they are adjusted for inflation, if done accurately it makes sense.

Spiderman, and X-Men aren't the properties of Marvel Studios ;)

(Which is why there haven't been any crossovers between the 3 yet.)

*edit* And there are 23 canon Bond films, and 2 non-canon.

Thing is... it does, and doesn't.

A New Hope took $307 million dollars. Sure adjusting for inflation means they were worth more, but it was still $307 million... not $3 billion dollars.

Also, it's "Franchise" how much each franchise made should include anything spun off from those films... which for almost all of them includes toys, games, clothing, bed spreads, books, clocks, posters, branded foods, comics...

Otherwise... Titanic should have made it onto the list as it took more than a couple of the bottom ones - only one film in the franchise but it made more than Rambo or Bourne ...

Also inflation is bad enough when applied to the amounts taken - but they've applied it to the quantity of Bond films

Looks like they've included the two unofficial Bonds, which are not strictly part of the franchise. Doesn't change the result though.

Chilli sort of beat me to it, but I have a suspicion that this actor died because his friend forgot that the laws of physics apply to cars when you're not in a movie.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

    Too fast... too furious?

I have never seen one of the films and have every sympathy for the young daughter he left but looking at the crash pic I don't think there is much doubt that car was being driven at very high speeds.
