Making A Murderer

What's Hot

I'm only on episode 2 but feck, it's addictive stuff.

Horrifying the way he (Steven Avery) was set up for a sexual assault and served 18 years until the DNA proved him innocent....before allegedly being set up for a murder a year after getting out.

If you have Netflix...well worth a view

Then read all the clickbait articles on the issues with it.

I wont do any spoilers, but its a tv show and only give one limited viewpoint so keep that in mind as you watch it.

Never seen it but heard some stuff about it on Radio 4. I think it has upset some other documentary makers as it is heavily biased and facts chosen or ignored to suit their case. Apparently very engrossing TV but to be taken with a massive pinch of salt.

Now come on son. I don't need to teach you how google works do I ;)

Like I said, clickbait, I didn't go looking for it. Probably one article on farcebook which led to other articles on the same subject.

Don't do facebook, the only article I can find that goes into any detail about the evidence against him is a DM and  it does nothing to counter the evidence in support of his innocence, thst the documentary covers.

Ill do a proper search once ive finished watching.

It is a stunning documentary, and biased or not, one man was framed and jailed for 18 years !! Mandatory viewing imho.

Got mentioned on Radio 4 again today (slow news week?) - brief interview with one of the people behind it refuting the accusations of not including relevant information.

Binge watched the whole lot and I gotta say I think they're both innocent. They certainly raised enough doubt. Fascinating documentary

Was riveting documentary, feel that Brendan was given the most diservice. None of his Lawyers seemed to be capable of truly sticking up for him.

Give the Jinx a watch too, another good doc.

    Just watching this now, Ep4.

It is terrible what these police did, and do, just to save face, cover their arse.  Willing to destroy people's lives, innocent people, where is the sense of morality ?  That kid is not even smart enough to peel a potato, I can't imagine him managing to kill that woman and dispose of the body.

False confessions are quite common apparently especially from people with low IQ's. The cops didn't care about the truth in this case, they ignored so many facts to fit them up

I seem to be the only person who found this really tedious.

It's an ninety minute documentary that's been padded out to ten hours!

I gave up half way through episode two.

    Sorry.

    Sorry.

I can see that but the point of the documentary is not the commentary telling you the facts but presents the facts to you and let you make up your mind.  From interviews, police evidence, court trials etc.

10 years of filming isn't going to condense down to 90 mins.

    This article explain it well.

    I've watched the first episode.
I expected a drama rather than documentary but after a slow start it picked up.

It's making me feel uneasy already though how someone's life can be unravelled, worrying stuff.

  • Just finished last night. Great stuff.

I've seen "Jinx" by HBO when it came out and was absolutely stunned.
This one is no less creepy but what was really frightening is how the county sheriff's office manipulated the whole thing (and we don't even find out the truth). Felt bit sorry for Brendan and once you see how the law can abandon one in need. ..

Interested in some.of the links You guys have mentioned - seems like Avery wasn't as innocent as it has been shown?

I've not seen the programme referred to but I gather it's about miscarriages of justice ?  On a local (to me) note, I'm still convinced Dai Morris is innocent of the Clydach murders (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2845510/Who-REALLY-murdered-married-WPC-s-lesbian-lover.html).

A bisexual woman is having an affair with the wife of a serving detective, whom a witness reported seeing threatening the woman to stay away from his wife.  She doesn't.  The woman, her mother and her children get battered to death, an eye witness sees a bloke 'walking briskly' near the house in the early hours of the morning and gives this e-fit picture of who she saw...

    image

The eye witnesses e-fit is on the right, the detective who allegedly threatened the victim is on the left.

The first senior person on the scene was the detective's identical twin brother (an inspector).

The eye witness identified the detective in an identity parade 15 months after.

    .....and this guy...

    image

(who was also allegedly having sex with the victim now and then) - gets four life sentences.

His alleged motive for battering an entire family to death and burning the house down ? - Because the victim refused him sex on this particular occasion.  That was the prosecution's allegation.
