I dont have a les pual to try but I put a video clip of my newly aquired mad professor royal blue od into my princeton a few posts down,  which im very happy with.  Extremely transparent and touch sensitive.

Blackstone Mosfet (very thick and amplike) or Thorpy Gunshot (Marshally & less compressed).

Most normal drives could be a bit raspy.

It would be nice to think that in the 2 years since this thread was started that @rlw has found a solution ;)

It was so long ago I've forgotten now.  Current pedals include BD2, OD3, DS1, Blue Ranger and a Peacekeeper but the Princeton went about eighteen months ago as it was far too loud for domestic use and I never got a decent overdrive sound out of it.
I've stuck with my Vox AV30 throughout which is actually pretty good at low levels and takes all of the above quite happily.
Given my current situation, I'm thinking about getting another TR10C or the Katana version as I simply cannot play loud and may have to revert to headphones.   Or I may just sell everything.

The OD3 is just perfect isn't it

I got a UAD arrow and 2203 plugin a few weeks ago for recording and it's pretty much replaced my THR10 now, through headphones or monitor speakers. VST is always an option!

  • I once briefly put a friend's OCD through my Princeton. It was only for a few minutes at home volumes, but it was the best I ever heard an OCD sound. Really great.

I also saw a guitarist in Nashville playing a King of Tone with a Deluxe Reverb and sounding brilliant, so I'd think one of those (or a clone) could be great with a Princeton too.
My YouTube channel, Half Speed Solos: classic guitar solos demonstrated at half speed with scrolling tab and no waffle.

A Snouse Blackbox works great into my Princeton - I'd imagine any other good Bluesbreaker style pedal would also do a similarly good job.
