Beachcomber

What's Hot
New to fretboard, hi.
I'm looking for info about my new guitar, its a Hutchins beachcomber in candy apple red ( sexy colour).
I've looked online and there is next to no info about it.
I know it has three p90's with phase Inverters and its red ;-)
But nothing more.
Can anyone help?
Also it keeps going out of tune possibly due to the term, its a jazzmaster/jag style but looks different to the fender or the mastery upgrade.
Cheers

Smaller bodied Jag/Jazz type eh? No idea mate, but looks cool, which is v important, and it has P90's, which is obv 'better'.

    And, welcome aboard!   :)

    Hi hoodride67.

Have you tried lubing the nut slots with some graphite or big bends nut sauce?
Check over any string trees and bridge saddles too.
    :)

The builder is based in Brighton, Google Hutchins guitars and he should come up. I had a Hutchins guitar, don't bother mailing him or sending a message on his Facebook page he can't be arsed answering.

If the lube made a difference the chances are the nut needs sorting with some nut files.

A proper setup would do it. You can highlight which string is the problem by tuning to pitch, then bend the string sharp behind the nut (tuning capstan side) and check the tuning again. If it's gone sharp the string is sticking in the nut.

If in double have a tech take a look.

    Edit.
    Oh and welcome.

He's not the builder, just the guy who buys them from China.

It says on his website "we design and make" if he doesn't that's a bit naughty but not surprising.

  • Its a really nice guitar to be fair, but I am a drummer first so probably be a not as knowledgeable as some of you guys.

  • I have noticed that the machine heads on the two high strings don't look as straight as they can be, so this may be the cause. Time to invest in some new ones me thinks. Any recommendations?

Not arguing with you @GuitarMonkey, was just going off what it said on his website. It wouldn't surprise me at all if a company said one thing while actually doing another. It can say Heinz beans on a bus but it don't mean they sell em!

@Skodadad I didn't think you were sorry, I just like to back up what I say with evidence.

  • I bought an ex display model on ebay for 275 Euros. I think the 500+ Euro price tag for a new one is excessive, they're not worth that. It's a decent enough guitar with a bit of setting up but in my opinion the Revelation RJT-60 is a better guitar at half the price.
