Something unheard of has happened - there are multiple Lazy J J20s for sale currently that have been for sale for more than a week!

Is Gassage on holiday?

I'm selling mine purely due to the lack of time lately to play! It's an amazing amp and a shame to have as furniture ;)

HMRC wants their tax in less than a week that's why.

There are 3 for sale on eBay at the moment. I'd be very intrigued to try one of these one day

Don't think the bubble has burst just yet, probably a combination of a long January and HMRC bills due.

One day someone will reverse engineer one and post the schematic online, leading to vast armies of home-brewers churning out clones for much less money......'Layzee-Jay' or similar.

Of course this'll only strengthen the pricing of the originals which will skyrocket (see Klon Centaur/Dumble/Trainwreck) when he stops building them.

The only way the bubble will burst is if he puts them into mass production PCB but that would only mean his original handwired is even more desirable. That bubble would only apply to the new mass produce version. There will always be a market for his handwired ones.

I can foresee a Klon like thing happening over time - for the best part of 20 years a real Klon was the only real way to get into one, now I don't think anyone has loyalty to the Klon "brand" at all, with most of the big pedal builders now producing one, it's pretty much public domain terriorty with only the collectors wanting an original. Even if KTR's were in every shop, people just want a good quality, good sounding (and available!) Klon-type.

Whilst it's great to have an 18 month waiting list, the risk is that people think "bugger that it's only an amp", and anything where demand outstrips supply doesn't usually stay like that for long as others spot the opportunities.

I plugged a CS Strat into one in Chandlers a while back. Played a bit and switched it off wondering what all the fuss was about. But I've recently heard a recording of a guy on here called Pete with his band Munch and it sounds bloody lovely, must be me then.....

  • So how much more headroom has the H model?

I don't believe it's a lot more to be honest but hopefully someone who has one and can compare will chip in

Having had one, I'd say there is definitely a difference in headroom. Not a huge amount, like a 50w & 100w Marshall of course, but it certainly gives you more power to stand up against a loud drummer unmic'd or to use a boost with humbuckers before it mushes out. If I recall correctly, the J20 is circa 18w and the J20H is around 22w.

Thing is, Lazy J's are awesome things but the one thing they are not is versatile. They sound like Lazy J's.

As a one size fits all amp for pedals I much prefer the TK Imperial.

Not to say I don't love LJ's- but they're a one sound amp, epic though that sound is.
