Man vs Food

What's Hot
I'm at home today - first day off in 3 months- and watching some crap TV while I practice some guitar.

I can't decide if Man vs Food is complete shite, or a bit of genius.
What say you?

some of it is "wow"  the first time you see it,  then you think "so thats why they as a nation are the size they are"     then, after seeing it a couple of times you think,  "do they really need so much cheese with everything"
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

I kinda like progs like that, you can learn a lot about a culture from the culinary traditions. I liked Floyd for that reason. What you learn about americans from man v food is, well, disturbing.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

I love to see a Brit version of it without all the whooping and hollering.

It would just be some fat northerner in a depressing cafe, moaning about life whilst eating his own weight in bacon.

well, we kinda have had a british version of that, or several versions. I know Rick Stein has done that, gone from region to region, trying out different dishes. Oddly enough, Ade Edmondson did something similar.

What would be boring would be an Oz version, not a lot of regional variety in oz food.

    Reduced for accuracy.

MvF is both shite and genius.

Shite - it encourages simpletons to eat massive amounts of food.

Genius - it's cheap to make, and is a regular programme across the world.

I'm ashamed to say I've watched most of them.  I was interested in the recipes and to see the regional cooking. I liked his support and enthusiasm local resteraunts. I was however appalled at the general portion size, the amount of wastage and just couldn't see the point in making food so spicy it was virtually inedible.

Just get in the car and head north and stop at any cafe.

  • The follow up series is a bit pants.

I always wondered why he won't take his jacket off during challenges and he wouldn't answer that when he appeared on Sunday Brunch.

It's because he's got two midgets inside who help him eat all the food.
