Londoners - directions help please !

Just thought I'd mention the congestion charge if you did decide to do a forward assault straight through the centre

So... let me get this right before I go to bed ! .... M4 to the M25, then north to join the M40 which becomes the A40...  follow that into London until Hanger Hill (ish) and head north on the A406 North Circular.  Follow that all the way round, through Brent Cross, past Banbury Reservoir, down to Redbridge and then turn back in onto the A12.  Follow that down to the Blackwall tunnel and I'm there.

I'm planning on leaving about 3am - so I should be hitting the M4/M25 junction somewhere around 6am.

Will this route keep me clear of the congestion charge zone ?

Yep, no congestion charge.  And yep that route is basically it. 

It will quite possibly be a total mare though if you're not used to it.  London traffic is insane.  No word of a lie I had a journey last Tuesday, in that area (cos it's where I live), should have taken maybe 30 minutes to do the 5 miles.  It took 2.5 hours.  That one dented my normal zen-like driving head.  Hope you don't get a day like that!

Well, we made it! I'm sat in the O2 now. Set off at 3.25 and had a clear run until Brent Cross when it ground to a halt for 20 mins, and got here about half eight. Had a couple of stops on the way too.

Oooh... It's big for a tent innit!
