New old Guitar Day. Yes, it's a Kawai

What's Hot

It's this ...

Both guitar and case are pretty much in original, just out of the shop, condition.

It really is (a) stunning and (b) somewhat "unusual", even by Japanese oddity from the 80's standards.

Kawai Rock'n'Roll Star.  From the early 1980s.  Not many around now - there never were many around even back in the day - and I can't imagine that there could be one anywhere in condition better than this one.

If that's got you tempted, there's a slightly-less mint version available for sale here.

:D

just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't

I've actually got three at the moment - this new arrival, a "slightly less mint" version, and the blue finished one ...

Having three is just silly, hence the FS thread.

    How is it amped up?

I would suspect it squeels a bit?

I would suspect so too ... but they only get used at home, at home volumes (as set by Mrs TT), and they're fine at those levels.

I didn't really buy them to play them (there's a surprise), this is quite openly a museum-style collection of models from a guitar brand that is pretty much off the radar for most guitarists, and even most guitarist collectors.

  • It's a truly impressive collection. It's a bit mental, but that just makes me love it more :)

As I have given up buying guitars, for my sanity's sake - I've been avoiding your dodgy bashed-up one of these in the classifieds, but having seen this by mistake I fear a relapse coming on...

They are rather lovely things - and that sky blue one *sigh*

Oi, less of the "dodgy" if you don't mind.

And you were too slow anyways.   :D

Needs to be played very loudly. Preferably with Crazy Horse.

    Very nice indeed @TTony.

You weren't kidding on how minty it was, it is a miracle it has survived so long without being dinged etc.

The interesting thing with these guitars is the thought of owning something that makes a 50s Les Paul look numerous :)
