Went to see them last night in Sheffield.. wasn't expecting much to be honest however.. they were FANTASTIC!!.. Ozzy still has it, and Iommi's guitar sound was totally massive.. biggest guitar sound i've ever heard in 30 years of watching gigs.

    Would love to see them.

I suspect having Brad Wilk on the drums helps. The guy is an immense drummer.

    My first ever gig.
    Black Sabbath.
Whatever the venue is/was in Hanley (nr Stoke-on-Trent).  1978?  79?  Sometime around then.
My ears were fine again after a couple of days.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

  • They're in Manchester Wednesday night, just had a look at ticket availability, there are some left, but at £65 for standing they can stay where they are... b-(

Love to see em again though, one of my favourite live bands.

Here's how uninformed I am....I stopped listening to them after Never Say Die...why no Bill Ward? I'm sure he's still alive, therefore is this really a re-union?

I saw their last reunion in '06 and they were fucking awful. Well, Ozzy was in particular. Glad to hear they've sorted it out.

Am I the only person who prefers Dio-era Sabbath?

  • NIA last night AWESOME! Just the perfect rock band ( or every cliche in the book if you prefer). I agree with @Si_ on the guitar sound. Massive yet clear. Ozzy was just much, much better than I thought he would be.
Awful support. Sorry fellas in the Deadbeats but you sucked on many levels.
Last minute Xmas shopping now. Not awesome... \m/

    Quite possibly! :)

I saw them on the Heaven and Hell tour with Dio in 1981 or something. These days I think I would have preferred to have seen them with Ozzy in their heyday, but 16 yeqr-old me thought they were amazing!

I was at the NIA gig too. Iommi's sound was fat and the missus enjoyed the show more than me

here's a pic of the great man himself (from a long way back in the arena)

  • @gjonesy we were on the seats at the back, about a mile from the stage but very central view. MrsTheWeary enjoyed it a lot, I hadnt really expected her to. It was my birthday last week and we normally go to a gig around it which she comes to on sufferance but she thought this was great. She is quite short so much less bothered about the lack of leg room at the NIA than I am.

@EricTheWeary i know what you mean, my knees locked up on me. My other half is quite small too so no complaints from her unlike when we went to see biffy with standing tickets, she wasnt happy at all. Belated birthday wishes btw

  • @gjonesy many thanks.
Standing would have been no good, she wouldn't have seen a thing. People at the back on the floor looked like they couldn't really see anything.
