Another cool chord I learnt for the charity Live Karaoke event 10 days ago, this time from Blame It On The Boogie by The Jacksons. The basic chord structure of the Sunshine Moonlight Goodtimes Boogie chorus is Eb6 Db7 Db9 Eb. For the Db9 on the words 'Good times' they use a neat voicing of a 9th chord where the root note is on the top, the voicing high to low goes root, 3rd, 9th, 7th, root. The chord is

Db9: 9x9869

The bottom string Db root note is optional and can be played by the thumb for the complete chord, but usually the bassist is taking care of the low root note.

The chord occurs at 0:45 in the video below. Think I'll do the Eb6 from 0:41 in two weeks, after I've done the Db9sus4 blues variation on the chord above next week. Can anyone think of a good illustration of this Db9 to Db9sus4 move on a blues song?
