Fender Strats with floyd rose

..if nothing else works out ill grab a Mexican CAR FR standard but here those FR special are dog.

 Regarding the Floyd's, I think most of the Mex models have/had 'Ping' licenced Floyd's which look and are supposed to be very good quality, hardened baseplates etc, the Floyd Special that's on my Jackson SDX is also really good, with a hardened baseplate, decent finish and returns to pitch perfectly, smoothly etc, I fitted an OFR thin, plated brass block to replace the cast block they come with. The Japanese market STR-FR that I was interested in was around £600 in Japan, at various dealers willing to ship to the U.K.~before shipping etc and I saw it here in the U.K.on Far East Guitars at £1100 + so didn't even enquire!. Anyhow, good luck with the search etc, I'll hopefully get some pic's up over the w/end of the CAR HRR Floyd Strat.

Yea I noted that price at £580 for the one I wanted , plus 20% plus 10-15% profit for importer . Ouch :-).

Which is really cheap, prob get hit for import duty. I asked some questions about the seller in the making and modding section. @Doug 's neck was rosewood (if I remember correctly) I'm after a maple neck.

I guess one issue for you is that candy apple red isn't just one colour due to the silver or gold base coat.

Very nice indeed that except for my one big pet hate...I dislike really pale maple..that almost white untinted maple irritates me. I love some colour on a maple..anything as long as its not almost white! One of the reasons I dont think i'll be getting the new EVH red n white Striped guitar. Also the only reason I sold my sunburst Strat...the maple neck was so pale it constantly irritated me. So it just had to go. Did think of getting it stripped and refinished...but the cost was too much to even bother.

They're darker in the flesh (so to speak...) Certainly mine isn't anaemic.

Fender Japan HRR Strat ~These were the forerunner/prototype, to the Sambora signature Strats, Recessed Original Floyd Rose, Dimarzio Humbucker, American singles,Contoured body/neck join,TBX Tone pot + push pull coil tap on the Dimarzio, All standard factory fit. First run had the Kahler Floyds which were soon replaced by OFR, 60's model had the rosewood f/board, 50's had maple, built in Japan with many American parts,

One of the newer ones with the FR2 was on eBay yesterday with £340 BIN. I considered it but relented.

@benvall Nice!, I always preferred the maple board ones but they seemed fewer of these about than the 60's rosewood board models when I was looking for one, so anyway, I built my own hrr(ish) from a Squire Deluxe Strat using the parts from my at the time, broken HRR plenty more info over here on these models http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/stratocaster-discussion-forum/27668-mij-strat-mystery.html If you look through the posts, you'll see a fantastic repair to the broken body/Floyd post mount by Time Electronics USA, I've done a similar repair to mine tho' mine will be dive only(which I actually prefer with Floyd's) when I eventually get it back together!!

@Doug that is nice. Does the squire body have the recess for the floyd rose? Mine is set for dives only too.

@benvall No it's dive only/top mount, previous trem was the standard non locking, standard two point squier, so I plugged the original holes and redrilled for the wider spaced Floyd bushes/post's.
