Serious question: Where do you buy your gaffer tape from?

It can retail for over a fiver a roll if you go to the wrong place, where can I get cheap rolls that are decent quality?

Poundland? They sell cheapie DIY stuff, so I'm guessing they sell Gaffa tape.

Once I drove back from a gig in an old Transit where we had to use gaffer to fix the front wing back on. Legendary stuff.

CPC.co.uk sell it quite cheap, that's where I get it from.

If you can't fix it with Gaffer tape you haven't used enough unless it warrants a permanent fix which is obviously cable ties :)

If it's anything like their superglue it'll be shite.

Beware of the difference in gaffer tape, duck tape and just cloth tape. They each have thier uses.

Both are quite strong and usually black, but proper gaffer tape can be removed and does not leave a sticky residue. You can reliably stick a contact mic inside the lid of an expensive grand piano with gaffer tape, do it with 'cloth or duck tape' and you will be handed a big bill for the clean up or restoration!

I tend to use duck/ duct tape which is widely available and comes in different colours. Not had significant problems with residue but then it is mostly for quick fixes or for pub carpets. I have bought stuff called gaffer tape and found it quite hard to use, twisting up terribly. I think I bought my last roll of duct tape from Wilkos which is a huge roll and I'm fairly sure cheaper than B and Q ( well, everywhere is cheaper than B and Q on everything).
