I just bought a flute

What's Hot

Is it going back on eBay over the weekend? Maybe. I fancied having a go though.

I'm a much better flute player than guitarist---if I can offer any advice, its to stick with it longer than a weekend. Making a pleasing sound on it takes a bit of work!

You'll need much more than a weekend to get a decent embouchure. Stick with it a while.

Thanks gents, I do plan on giving it a fair crack. It's galling learning a totally different instrument I know nearly fuck-all about. I had to Google how to put the thing together! I can make a sound so that's encouraging.

Jethro Tull were the inspiration @Hert32 :D

For a good beginner book the classic text is "A Tune A Day, book 1".

    Have fun!

Ian Anderson was influenced by Roland Kirk, well worth checking out some of his work.

Andy Latimer and Thijs Van Leer would also (IMO) be good people to check out for flute stuff, in the context of a rock band.

I've often toyed with the idea of getting one.
