    I found it to be.
    Look I can prob email the files over.
    It's a bit naughty but tbh I've been waiting for the next episode for ages.
    What's your addy? Or you got drop box?
    The thing is to try and use that picking pattern as a foundation for other licks and runs.
    It's been about 7 months since the last episode hasn't it?
    He said there would be a two way pick slanting feature in the Cracking the Code episodes, but has just included one in the Batio Mechanics Download for £37, which is a bit cheeky.
    Great stuff for learning fast though.

    This is where having a couple of lessons helps.
    In person I can give you about half a dozen fragment exercises that will take you a year to get up to speed.

    You don't really need to work on anything else.
    They are hard to explain on forums though.

    Yeah, I think you're right. I'll probably end up tapping @Paul_xt as I know he's a great teacher, he lives local and he's worked with my Mrs.

    Yeah, he's taking his time because he's realized his revenue stream will dry up faster the more CtC episodes he puts out.

    I've been watching Ben Eller a lot recently.
    The way he explains things makes a lot of sense to me.

    Also Steve Stine (LessonFace) and Papastache102 make excellent 'Learning' videos.

    Has anyone in this thread tried V Picks yet?

    I'm trying to learn to play fast lead stuff and i was told that a rigid, pointed, sculpted pick like that would help.
    They do one called THE SHREDDER but it's just basically a sharp triangle.

    Do these help?

    I am using a Big Stubby 2.0, a Max Grip Jazz III or a Dunlop Primetone Triangle shape 1.4mm.

    I don't like V Picks.

    I use Black Ice/D'addario 1.5mm plectrums.
    They are slightly bigger than a Jazz III (which I used for years) and they are harder and better in every way.

    I've been looking for something around the jazz III XL Size which has the grippy stuff on it.

    Ibanez have the Grip Wizard which is rubber dimples across the large part of the pick so for a fiver i might give them a go however i will keep an eye out for the Black Ice ones above,

    Thanks

    :)

    @hobbio

    This video helped me a lot.
    I now use "Chunking" a lot more in learning and it helps me to think about phrases and licks in a more logical way.

    Hope that helps Al.

    As you know I'm studying drums.
    We break everything down to units of 2 or 3 and the build them up.
    I've learned some really complicated grooves just by breaking it down to little blocks of 2 or 3 things.

    It works great on guitar as well.

    No worries- they are the best pick I've ever used.
    2nd best are the Ultex picks but they are a long, long way behind.
    The Black Ice just sound so good, very hard and precise.
    And they last for ages- I can go through a Jazz III in day or two, but I get weeks out of the BI's.

    @hobbio

    I have a Glut of picks i've tried and not liked here, all barely used in terms of life left in them.

    PM me your address and i will post them up to you man.

    It's all Jazz III XL's, Jazz III's, theres a grippy stubby, a Big Stubby 3.0 and probably others.
    One of them might click with you.

    if you got the Cracking the Code Season 2 pack, which concentrates on Eric Johnston and Yngwie, you could learn to pick fast using their methods which combine angling the pick in one direction and using legato.  They have a simple easy to use and accessable system.

    @nickp

    Only on YouTube, so I (usually) get a notification when he puts out a new video. I've not paid for any of his products yet.

    On @Octatonic's recommendation, I'm experimenting with Black Ice picks at the moment, too. Initial impressions are favourable, though I think I find them a little small, coming from Ultex Sharp 2mm.

    ta - I'm just starting to concentrate on increasing my fluidity and speed of picking/playing as I'm ok to about 100 ish bpm but as a minimum would really like to be able to play and "improvise" 4 notes per beat at around 120-130 bpm as that's the speed of most songs - or a little faster so that I have some technique "in hand"
