Show us your first proper electric guitar

What's Hot
On a previous thread on guitar shops in Manchester, I mentioned my very first electric guitar which was a Hohner Arbor Telecaster copy. Here's the Hohner; what a terrible looking thing it was, especially the headstock and the weird bridge assembly

    Oooohhh...!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    1984 Aria RS Standard.

In defence of my hair/specs/shirt, that was taken in 1987 :). (Still no excuse, I know ;).)

  • My first guitar was a Vulcan les paul copy in metallic electric blue.   :-O

Stuck a DiMarzio Super Distortion in it. Then it got nicked.  :(

I've never seen another and I've never found an image on the web.

The Vulcan was replaced with a 1981 Ibanez Artist AR100 - considerably better!

My brother with his 70`s tele, old man with an Antoria J300 copy.

Jedson Tele- (shaped piece of plywood).

Paid about £10 from a junk shop in about 78. I was robbed. Amazingly they now go for serious money. Don't buy one :)image

NO pic, but a Hohner Les paul copy in tobacco sunburst. Looked good, action you could drive a bus under.

    And a Squire 15 amp.

I had one of those, bought to tide me over when I couldn't get at my first 'proper' guitar for a while (long story) - Satellite? My first guitar was a Peavey International Series Falcon, bog-standard sunburst Strat copy - I actually augmented it with the Telecaster copy from the same series a few years later, decent little guitars!

    One of the ubiquitous....

Photo's not mine but they all looked the same.

And it served me well for about 3 years from 14-17.  I loved it - into a home made solid state amp combo made by my dad (an engineer) with a cheapo distortion pedal.

No pics.  I'm not sure that there were cameras back then.

Black Columbus LP copy.  Bought it s/h c1976/7 from a local music shop in Crewe.  £60.

I put a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, and tuned it to open-G.  That improved it.

Then I bought a Kawai KS11XL ... and thus began a whole other story
