...I find I rarely reach for them of late; I'm totally stuck on my synths. Totally immersive experience. I'm sure I'll come back around, but the buzz of wrapping your head around an instrument that's new to you is really enthusing. 

Have plans to start recording a little solo project for my own entertainment; it'll be interesting to see how much (or little, as the case may be) guitar goes down.

I love the idea of having tools to allow you to explore. I find that when playing guitar I lapse into the familiar. I imagine the new instrument is a release from that.

Enjoyed that. When is the EP coming out?

Ha. I don't know to what end I intend to record yet - I've got to get my head around Logic Pro X first; it's been bloody years since I've recorded, and even then I used PT not logic, so I've another learning curve to navigate! But I used to really enjoy it, so the motivation is there.

I waded through Logic Pro x as well. Albeit I hadn't come from another DAW. It was much easier than GarageBand in my opinion. Music tech help guy on YouTube is very good for logic.

That's why I got into guitar synthesis in the 80's, I recommend trying Jam Origin software for guitar or the Fishman Triple Play if you want a hardware option to expand your synth journey

I think having other instruments beyond guitar is really healthy and helps you become a better / more interesting guitarist as it changes how you think about music.

Very nice! 
I often wish I'd kept all my old synths,  especially recently watching Stranger Things with its Tangerine Dream soundtrack, lots of lovely analog rubberband basses and heartbeat bass drums,  very George Romero. 
might have to break out Cubase and the plethora of vsti synths I have.

Yes, I'm a PT guy since 1999, trying  Logic Pro X
But - have you fully explored Ableton Live yet?
For a  guy who likes synths and sequencers, could be more rewarding?

The other two in my band use it, but it hasn't appealed to me. That said, the tiny amount of time I've been able to spend with Logic so far hasn't been exactly intuitive.

yeah Gav, I also have an alternative 'outlet' which I do the odd project on (non commercially - I couldn't work to deadlines these days) Cbase Pro 'n NI mostly sucks up the hours. I can get lost 'designing' sounds.
