Hi All,

Hoping you can help me out with some song suggestions.

Just started a new band and got a gig booked in November.Due to holidays we are only likely to get about 3 rehearsals before the gig .

Looking for some easy, uncomplicated crowd pleasers we can fill out the set with. eg Teenage kicks , 20th Century Boy.etc

We are a 3 piece mainly pop/rock type stuff.

Any help much appreciated.

    LOAP.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Here's a few a band sent me the other week for some dep gigs.    I'd get all 3 of you to each write a massive list and then pick the songs that overlap for starters then add in a few more easy ones if you need to.

    DEVIL GATE DRIVE
    PARK LIFE
    ROADHOUSE BLUES
    20TH CENTURY BOY

  • That would be on our top three go over well songs,  not really sure why. Others would include Lip Up Fatty which I basically hate and we make a mess of but basically never fails (although not ideal with a three piece as per the OP). And something else I can't think of -  probably Gangsters.

I'd do Tiger Feet by Mud.

  • 3 rehearsals is plenty if you are learning them the same as the records. Just need to work on a few endings where the records fade out.
To be honest, in a covers band most of the work is done outside of the rehearsal room learning your individual parts before you even get together, and if the gig is in November, you have tons of time to do this.

Have you looked at the 'sticky' thread at the top of this category? Plenty of great suggestions there which are easy to learn.
