DADGAD for a beginner ?

i d like to be a better acoustic player . At the minute my level is slightly above beginers but not much. It's not that I can't play , I did spend most of my time on an electric and can transition the licks across. But I want to learn solo guitar pieces,  finger picking and also doing that thing where the guitar sounds like more than one instrument . So I was wondering whether to start learning DADGAD acoustic pieces. So I pretty much start a fresh almost like learning a new instrument . Has anyone else done this or is there a better tuning to try on acoustic ?

DADGAD is a fine tuning for learning but understand that you need to learn to think in the new tuning, which means going through much the same process as it took to learn standard tuning.
I leave a particular guitar in DADGAD which I feel helps me think in DADGAD.

You can do all the things you want in standard tuning, so I would suggest sticking with that for the time being. However, the easiest change is dropped D (the bass E to D) which allows the rolling bass sounds for bluesy type numbers etc or something like BlackWaterside:

So I ve had a bit of a go and so far , I like it. I may find I get fed up with the tone of it but not at the moment. Plus I m learning again rather than trotting out the same tired licks that I normally play. Also it's introduced me to some fantastic players, on YouTube , that I d never heard of and made me want a lowden even more.
