Chord Of The Week 8/10/16 BEATLES CHORDS - F#m7b5 from 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by The Beatles

bigjonbigjon Frets: 680
Continuing the progression at the beginning of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the third chord in the progression after Am x02210 and last week's chord Am/G 3x2210 is

F#m7b5: 2x2210

The top four strings are the same as for the previous two chords, it's just the descending bassline that creates the new chord. Top tip: if you find yourself called on unprepared to play a m7b5 chord (eg in a minor ii V i jazz progression, which is very common e.g. Autumn Leaves), just play a straight minor chord three frets up and let the bass player take care of the root note ;-)

The chord, again from my heretically-preferred Jeff Healey cover, can be seen being played upside-down and backwards from a great height at 0:03 in this video
