    Thanks for all the suggestions!

There is more than one possibility for naming pickup sets in your replies

I have a fav list of 5 at the minute, and intend to decide which one(s) to use tomorrow

The Gorgon is a definite, but it will be used on a set of hot and nasty sounding single coils. The name just made sense, as I am currently working on such a set.

So a big thanks to Maynehead for that suggestion, your thank you is in the post and should be with you tomorrow. Unfortunately it isn't a set of Gorgon as ... well they only exist in my head for now. But enjoy the ex-demo Vintage II's.

So ,there is  still some time for suggestions, and any that lead to a name will most definitely be acknowledged.

Thanks again guys, appreciated as it is saving me some head scratching time.

I'd just like to say a public thank you to Declan for his very generous gesture. I didn't know they were the Vintage II's, which should be a really interesting set to try, as I normally use high output pickups.

I'll probably put them in my Indie FDL LP, or my Dean Z 79 explorer(!), and I'll make sure to tell everyone how they sound!

If I was a pickup winder, I would move away from all this 'conventional' naming that every other pickup maker does. There's a style of naming that seems synonymous with pickups.

I'd go for wacky names that make you look twice and make the products stand out from the crowd, like:

    Duke of evil buckerness
    Overtone overlord
    Death defying spidercrusher
    High chief nipplepincher
    Saucy great tartlett
    Tandoori ring of fire
    Two finger neck throttle
    Furious great wombat
    Pickle of adversity
    Red hot cucumber
    Stitched skin sandwich
    Toasty brain kebab

..... Now I want to start up a pickup company!

There is isn't there.... I agree and I like whacky, but I'm led to believe most guitarists don't, especially when it comes to their gear, possibly with the exception of pedals....... id love to be proven wrong.

Overtone Overlord and the Duke of Evil Buckereness are brilliant

I've always wanted a pickup called the Scumbucker.

A chap on Sevenstring.org once coined the "Bare Knuckle Dicksmasher" which made me chuckle

If you ever do a post-rock or post-metal type pickup, may I suggest:

Fear The Clouds For They Bring Down Mountains (for a humbucker)

    or

Like Sparkling Rivers Of Joy We Scurry To The Sea For Forgiveness (for a single coil)

    or

The Birds, The Birds, The Birds Are Screaming Your Hallowed Name (for pretty much anything you want)
