here's a Boss DS-1 made in 1998. Now I admit I'm no expert on this but I',m told this was one of the better eras for manufacturing when
it comes to the classic that is the DS-1. This is when they were made properly. I'm also told they can go for up to £100. Well as nice as it is, I think that's a load of old balls so I'm selling for what I think it's worth. I'm not here to profit from it. I don't use it any more which is the reason for sale but I loved it when I kicked it in on a slightly driven amp.
I'm looking for £40 and would prefer to send it first class recorded which is £4.10. Collection form Cookridge Leeds also an option.

  • DS1's that are sought are 1. First run silver screw long dash models 2. MIJ models 3. Early made in Taiwan models. Japan production ceased in the 80's so I doubt yours is one of the sought after models. I think the only way to tell for sure would be to look at the components inside. Your's has non-original knobs too, which would reduce it's value if it was a sought after model.

  • which is why I said I'm no expert !! thank you for the info. It was made in Taiwan. The lad I got it from said he bought it from Fox's in Leeds in 1998 brand new, it was the first pedal he ever bought. You clearly know what you're talking about so is my valuation ok ?

  • I think you can buy a new one for not much more than £40 so I would say it was on the high side of it's not one of the desirable models. I would go to the bossarea website and read about the different versions, open your pedal up and see what chip it has inside - that'll tell you if it's a desirable model for sure and it'll give you a better idea what it's worth.

  • If you Google Boss DS1 history a few links come up with useful info regrading the desirable chips.
