  • 1990 anyone?

Nope? No great legendary guitars from then?

Es-125 is cheap enough for 1959.
If your budget is bigger: Les Paul Junior.

As I have said before - I think a Year of Birth guitar can end up meaning more to you than your first guitar.  I also think there is a difference between wanting to do this while your own Mother is still alive, and feeling an urge to get a Year of Birth guitar after your own Mother is no longer around.

      :-O

But possibly not as :-O as when said guitar almost drops into your lap.......

    1975.....

Nope, can't think of anything I'd want.......

Les Paul? Don't get on with them

    SG? See Les Paul

    Tele? Don't like them

Strat? Don't like big headstocks, bent-steel saddles and six-screw trems

1986 is a tough one for me, especially as I'm a big superstrat fan.

    1962...

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Ibanez RG550. Sorted.

They'd been discontinued by 1995 though. Bugger.

I helped a friend get her fiancé a 1974 Telecaster Custom that she gave to him as a wedding preset.
It was really sweet and he was so chuffed.

I'm 1972- nothing from that year that really appeals to me.

I'm 1980 and I've got a 1980 "The Strat" so I'm quite chuffed with that.

    1960, almost as bad as 1959 :(

Scratched the itch with a 1960 ES-330 a few years ago.  Fantastic guitar.  However, still lust after a 1960 ES, Cherry with PAFs ... maybe one day ...

1963. Don't want some crappy relic from that crappy year. They are so unrealistic when they are worn down over time, don't look like they've even had a sniff of a belt sander.
