The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie (Yes, that High Laurie). Not only can he do comedy, serious acting, play piano, etc - it also turns out he can write a pretty decent book. Plus whenever I've seen him interviewed he comes across as a genuinely nice guy. Bastard!

I'm only two chapters in at the moment, but he's got quite a way with words and the book is a definite page turner.

Moved onto Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink by Elvis Costello. I'm not a massive fan but he's got some great stories and comes across as a nice guy.

Finished the Ted Chiang, back to Hannu Rajaniemi with The Fractal Prince.

Just started the last of the trilogy - The Causal Angel

Even second time round I'm not completely sure what's going on, which is classic sci-fi in my book (pun not initially intended, but left in).

Has anyone read 'The Girl in the Spider's Web'? - the follow on from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series?

    Just finished this:

it is my second Martin Amis book, and still not sure what I think of him as an author. Money was a better book in many ways, and this is very much a 3/5 for me.

Hannu Rajaniemi's trilogy done, I've just started Hardwired (99p for kindle at the moment) by Walter Jon Williams, not someone I've read before.

Kevin Pietersen's autobiography, which can more or less be summed up in the following terms:

    1) Andy Flower and Matt Prior are the twin sons of the devil.
    2) Anyone who did things that KP didn't like are their cousins.
    3) Anything KP did that either offended or did harm to other people was either a genuine mistake or something he shouldn't have done and now regrets.

Not as simplistic as you might think, but at least I've saved you the bother of reading it.

That might be worth reading if KP's ghost writer was Dennis Wheatley.

I'm enjoying this one which is all about being a pilot, and as a bonus I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about flying.  Well written too.

I went to Stuart Maconies favourite Indian restaurant on Saturday but he wasn't there ( about 8:30pm on a Friday when we've spotted him before though - also spotted him in Tesco, no particular time slot). I've a feeling he has moved house so we might eating bhunas in vain but I feel I should have a go at one of his books.

    I liked it. It's quite Bill Bryson-ish.

It wasn't at all bad, so I've picked up the next in the series (not a sequel, but still in the same universe) and I'm currently enjoying The Steel Remains (loved his Sci-Fi but it was praise on here which encouraged me to try his Fantasy) which I got from my local library for 30p.

The Steel Remains was good, I may well pick up the others.

I'm currently enjoying Saturn's Children - Charles Stross.

I am reading this at the moment. It is a looonnnnggg read, and I am not even half way through yet. Very interesting though, and certainly a good platform to jump off into other things from (Epictetus and Seneca in particular).
