Forum Etiquette/ Selling A Prize Won On Here

What's Hot
RocknRollDaveRocknRollDave Frets: 6481
Wondered what the general feeling would be if I were to put up for sale on here the Thorpy-built 'Marshall in a box' style pedal that I won on here many moons ago, and which is of course superbly made but alas doesn't really have a place in the sounds I use.

On the one hand, I paid to enter a competition and won fair and square, on the other hand it could be seen as shamelessly cashing in on Thorpy's high profile name.

Wouldn't want to cause any offence, and wouldn't want to disrespeck the forum or its members.

  • IMO - it's yours, to do with as you wish, just like anything else you own. People will either buy it or not. If you are not using it, sell it.

Heresy, absolute Heresy. I expect you to be buried with that pedal or bequeath it to the future generations of ROCKANDROLLDAVE.

either that or its your pedal to do as you wish.

p.s. (use the winnings to treat yourself to one of our new offerings....)   :)

  • Forum etiquette is that you give it to a forum member you once met on a MacDonald's car park.

I think you should run a Masquerade style national treasure hunt with accompanying picture book. It'll be massive. Go on.

You owe it to thorpy to keep up the market value of the pedal.

  • Decent of you to even consider this as an ethical situation. I wouldn't be in the least bit offended to see it up for sale. It's always cool to pay things forward though. You could maybe offer a small percentage of the sale price to charity if you feel you'd like to do something.

It's not like you stole it.
If you won the lottery, would you give it all away?

  • Wondering if this would be popular enough to auction off for Thomas's Dosh For Ross fund?

If people are up for it, I'll upload some pics on Monday (pedal is left at work, alas) and start a thread for it.

I don't really "do" lots of pedals.

But I really liked that one.  And wanted it.  Bloody dog picked out the wrong ball.

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

You won it so I say it's yours to do with as you like.

Different if you got it for free off a forum then tried to flog it.
