A piece of indie pop which I found by chance (complete with lo-budget video... well I hope it was lo-budget!)  Has a really nice guitar line which wanders through the song.  Also like the way the drums really hold back for ages...

The War on Drugs, "Red Eyes"

War on drugs album was really good. Quite easy going, but the sounds are fantastic.

  • Ryan Adams "Give Me Something Good" off his self-titled album from last year. I don't know exactly what drew me to the album but it really did something for me, I don't really like his other stuff.

    Oh well. :)

This came on Radio 2 yesterday. Had it been announced I might have turned over but I was going wow that's good before I'd remembered what it was! The joys of musical snobbery.

Well, if @EricTheWeary can post that, here's my contender for uncool track of the day.

Feels great through decent speakers with the volume up though.

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Rounding off my day of disco...I was watching Huey ( spll?) Morgan talking about how this was the track that turned him on to Nile Rodgers. I don't think I ever heard it before and it's an awful lot of guitar soloing, one thing you don't tend to expect of Nile. which I'll pair with one of the least likely ( if guitar heavy) disco records ever as the musicians are basically experimental jazz artists ( although many might be familiar with the bass player Bill Laswell - who, of course, produced a Motorhead album at a later point in his career. The singer on this Nona Hendryx [ better known as one of the vocalists on Lady Marmalade] being Jimi Hendrix's cousin and Lemmy at one time Jimi's roadie, so it's a small world). The guitar solo starts after about 3:30 and runs for nearly three minutes.

I was in Sainsburys on Sunday and spotted Dr Feelgood - I'm A Man (Best Of The Wilko Johnson Years 1974-1977) for a fiver. It's really rather good! I remember seeing Wilko on that Rock School show in the early 80s and thinking he had an amazing technique. I watched that weird documentary about him before Xmas but wanted more music and less pondering on death.
